Step 1 - Design you coin and send us your design or artwork. We can work with virtually any graphic file type but prefer .jpg, .tiff, .pdf, .ai, or .eps formats. Your artwork should contain the following information:
- A clear indication of the shape of your coin - we can make virtually any shape for you but we need an accurate outline.
- Any text that you want going onto the coin and whether it should be raised or recessed.
- High resolution images of the grapohics that you want to use on the coin. Feel free to send these as seperate files and we can integrate them into the design for you.
- An indication of where you want the graphics going on the coin and their relative sizes.
- Detailed information on any features on the coin such as areas of 2D and 3D artwork.
- The colours that you want to use on the coin using the Pantone Colour Matching System (PMS), Please be aware that monitors display colours differently so its best to get to a graphic or art shop that has a chart that you can see. An online colour chart can be found here >> PANTONE COLOUR CHART
Any artwork changes that take more than 30 minutes may incur a small labour charge.
Step 2 - We will create some concept art for your coin for your approval and we will get you a quote for the number of coins that you require. Please note that you need to order a minimum of 250 coins if you want a custom icon at geocaching.com for your coin.
Step 3 - If you accept the quote we require payment in full as we have to wire the money to the mint in China before they commence work. The mint will then produce the final die art which you will have to approve before the dies are made. Any changes are actioned at this stage. It is imperative that you check the art properly especially spelling and layout as any changes once the dies have been made will require you to buy another set of dies.
Step 4 - The mint produces a sample coin. you can opt to have it sent to you via courier or just get a picture. Getting the samples in hand can delay the project by a couple of weeks and will incur an additional postage fee. This is agreed prior to placing the contract at step 2.
Step 5 - You check the samples and once you are happy with the coins finish and design the mint goes into full production. It usually takes about 3 weeks for the coins to be made.
Step 6 - The coins are delivered to you by us and all activation codes are hosted on our site for people to be able to retrieve them to activate their coins.
It really is as simply as that. the time line from start to finish is usually between 6 to 8 weeks.
